RV – What Type Is The Ideal Fit For You?
There are a plethora of RV types, makes, models, and manufacturers on
the market. Basically, the entire RV lot can be broken down into two groups – motorized
and towable. A motorized RV is able to be driven, while the towable group
must be towed, or attached to the rear end of a truck or car. Within these
two overarching RV groups there are many types.
- Class A RV: This motorized motor home is usually large, similar to
a tour bus or Greyhound bus. This RV comes in the most luxurious models.
The RV is adjustable to suit any motor home owner or traveler. There
are swivel captain chairs, living room, kitchen area, bathroom area,
sleeping area, and sometimes other unique RV areas. A Class A RV is driven
in the same way that a car is driven, so it is easy for most drivers.
- Class B RV: The Class B motor home is an RV that looks like a van,
built on a van chassis with a raised roof. This type of RV is also very
easy to drive. Class B motor homes will include a living area, bathroom,
dining area, and bedroom, but will be smaller than the Class A recreational
vehicle.
- Class C Motor Home: This motor home is the least expensive of all of
the motorized types of motor homes. The Class C is built on a truck chassis
and has a recreational vehicle unit built on top of it. The sleeping
area is over the cab, which is where the driver is. This motor home will
contain the same spatial compartments that a Class A or Class C motor
home will have. A Class C recreational vehicle is ideal for towing a
boat, motorcycle, or even a car.
- Fifth Wheel: A fifth wheel towable is a motor home trailer that hitches
to the bed of a truck. You have to make sure you have a vehicle that
can tow and/or handle the weight and capacity of your fifth wheel motor
home. Otherwise, you can do a lot of damage to your vehicle. The inside
of the fifth wheel is comparable to other Classes of motorized motor
home, and can vary according the amount of money the consumer wants to
spend.
- Travel Trailer: A travel trailer is a towable motor home and is very
popular. The travel trailer hitches to the back of another vehicle. The
towing vehicle can be a van, truck, or heavy car. This will depend on
the size and weight of the travel trailer. This model is generally less
expensive than a fifth wheel towable, but the internal space and amenities
will vary according to the buyer’s wish and demand.
- Pop-Up Trailer: This type of towable recreational vehicle looks as
though it is a box when closed. The Pop-Up trailer has “pop-up” options
for the front, back, and oftentimes the sides of the trailer. It is a
recommended starter trailer for a new RVer or family. This towable can
be towed easily, and is less expensive than other trailers while accommodating
more people.
- Slide-In Camper: Another in expensive towable motor home is the slide-in
camper, which can be removed from the body of a flat bed pickup truck.
The sliding option provides ample space, but not as roomy as a travel
trailer or fifth wheel.
There are a number of recreational vehicles available on the market. Each
has unique size, space, and price options for you to choose from. You will
definitely be able to find the most ideal motor home to match exactly what
you and your family want from a life on the road.
