There is an RV for Everyone Who Daydreams of Living on the Road.

RV stands for recreational vehicle - “a motorized wheeled vehicle used for camping and other recreational activities” (Worldreference.com online dictionary). Living life in an RV has been a popular hobby generally typecast for the generation ready to retire and venture out onto the road. Fortunately, the RV is a niche market is now becoming more and more accessible to anyone and everyone willing to take the time to purchase a recreational vehicle and hit the road.

There are different genres of recreational vehicle owners – Fulltimers (live on the road twenty four hours a day for the duration of the year), Weekenders (enjoy brief excursions on the weekend, and usually still have other means of transportation and living), and there are also genres called Newbies (anyone new to experiencing life on the road). Although there are different “categories” of people living/traveling in recreational vehicles, the travling way of life has a communal undertone. It is a community of people who enjoy freedom and traveling.

Living in a motor home does not mean living dirty from camp ground to trailer park. This is actually quite contrary. There are numerous motor coaches available in a wide array of types. There are the simple, basic to the extremely lavish and extravagant. Each recreational vehicle owner must find his/her own style of living, and find the recreational vehicle to match.

There is an RV model for everyone, and recreational vehicle manufacturers want it this way. A recreational vehicle is broken down by type, category, and model in each product line. Different manufacturers make and design a variety of recreational vehicles. Manufacturers are the mind behind the actual motor home itself. Each manufacturer builds a certain RV product line. This is the overarching style, such as the Monaco Corporation’s Holiday Rambler, which breakdowns into 15 different models in the product line. The Holiday Rambler, for example has the Navigator, Imperial, Sceptor, etc. These “named” motor homes are usually one kind of model. The aforementioned Navigator is a Class A motor home. The different models of recreational vehicles are: 1) the pop-up truck, where an addition is added to a pick up truck; 2) park model, which is the home away from home that can be hitched up and dropped off in most any location; 3) travel trailer, which is towable; 4) fifth wheel, also towable; 5) Class A, which is the most common, luxury motor coach; 6) Class B, which is more of a camper van; and 7) Class C, which is a mini Class A style motor home. There are other towables, such as the toy hauler and slide out camper pop up.

If a potential owner of an RV finds the ideal home on wheels, the next steps are to successfully purchase it. RV buyers are encouraged to finance their new purchase. Just as there is the perfect motor home for anyone with the dream of living on the road, there is also a financial plan for anyone wanting to buy a recreational vehicle. Whether or not the prospective RV owner has a good or bad credit report and credit score, they are almost assured of being financed. People in the market to buy a new or used RV, are looked upon by creditors as less risky as people in the market for a regular automobile. While a bad credit score may secure a higher loan interest rate, the recreational vehicle will be financed and the potential buyer will become an owner. A financial plan will help the buyer learn about building equity and further build up his/her credit score. Equity is the amount (percentage) of the buyer owns during the lifetime of the loan. As a buyer goes step by step through the financing process, he/she will be able to assess his/her personal needs and financial boundaries, which will help the buying process overall. Once the motor home is customized, bought, and paid for…the dreaming traveler will be able to jump into the recreational vehicle travel experience.
