There are literally hundreds of recreational vehicle manufacturers. Some offer a complete line of RVs from travel trailers to toy haulers to motor coaches. Others specialize in only motorized vehicles or towables. When you are shopping for a recreational vehicle you should carefully investigate the manufacturer to find out about their philosophy, their manufacturing process, their quality control and their commitment to customer service after the sale.
Philosophy or Mission Statement
Many companies and organizations have a philosophy and/or a mission statement. This is a collection of principles and ideas that the company promises to follow or promote in its business dealings. An example of this would be “The customer is always right.” When you are looking at recreational vehicle manufacturers you should find out what their philosophy is. Many times you can find it on their website or brochure. If their philosophy matches with your ideals and values it is a good sign for you. But, don’t just
ask the manufacturer. Ask a dealer who sells that particular make of RV why he likes them. You should talk to people you know who have purchased from that manufacturer and ask about their experiences in buying. Did they listen to the buyer’s needs and wants? Did they conduct their business with integrity? Did they do everything in their power to meet the buyer’s expectations?
How is your RV Made?
The manufacturing process is different for each of the recreational vehicle
manufacturers. Some have multiple plants and assembly lines. Others are
smaller and have only one plant or assembly line. Does individualized attention
to detail mean more to you, or do you want the advantage of a larger selection
and inventory? You need to know how your recreational vehicle is manufactured
so that you are aware of the components of your RV. Many recreational vehicle
manufacturers have patented technology that is unique to them and may make
their RV more appealing to you in particular.
Testing, Testing….
What steps do the recreational vehicle manufacturers take to ensure quality control? Have they done extensive testing while in the development stages of the RVs? Do they check each an every recreational vehicle before it leaves the plant to ensure that when you get it, it is in perfect condition and safe to drive? Are the parts manufactured to last for the life of the RV? What kinds and lengths of warranties are available from recreational vehicle manufacturers? What are the terms? All of these are legitimate questions that recreational vehicle manufacturers or dealers should be prepared to answer to your satisfaction.
Continuing Customer Service
After you have purchased your RV the responsibilities of the manufacturer are not over. They must continue to support you with information about maintenance; any recalls that are necessary, and questions you may have about the functioning of certain aspects of your RV. The role of the recreational vehicle manufacturers is not over until their RV is out of commission. This is customer service.
When you purchase an RV from any manufacturer you should feel confident that you have gotten the best quality recreational vehicle at the best price possible for your budget and lifestyle. You will join a group or “club” of individuals with similar values and interests to yours. In fact, many RV manufacturers sponsor clubs and rallies for people who own their products. This is just one more way that you can get the customer support you need. Of the hundreds of RV manufacturers out there the vast majority are deeply committed to you, the customer and your satisfaction. They want you to have the RV of your dreams. Your dreams can become a reality.
