Motorhomes for Sale, Know What to Look For in an RV

While the massive growth in the RV industry has had many, many wonderfully positive effects on the options and variance of models offered to consumers . . . there is that one itty, bitty negative that can be thrown out there. When there is a lot offered, there follows some big decisions. What kind of RV is the one that you need? All the various models for sale out there have their own purposes; their own positives and their own negatives. You can’t wander straight up to the first motorhomes for sale that you see and assume it is the one that you need. You have to know first off . . . what it is that you need.

There are several basic categories that RV’s in general and, therefore, all motorhomes for sale will fall into.

The Class A motorhome is generally constructed on a specially designed motor vehicle chassis. They are the “big” ones and the favored motorhomes of full time RVers. If you are looking to sell your house and move in to your new RV, these may be the motorhomes for sale you need to be looking at. A Class B motorhome is a smaller, more compact unit that usually looks more like a large van. The Class B is popular due to their more flexible storage requirements. They usually fit inside a regular sized garage and can often be used as a second vehicle around town. Class B motorhomes are a good option for those who aren’t quite ready to give up their home base. The Class C motorhome is built on an automotive-manufactured van frame with a cab attached. Class C’s usually have a visible overhang over the cab containing a full or queen bed. Class C motorhomes for sale would also work well for those that aren’t ready to leave home for good, but are looking for spontaneous travel without a lot of hassle. Luckily, there is such an influx of interest in RV’s right now that you’ll have no trouble finding what you are looking for among all the motorhomes for sale.

Mixed in with all the motorhomes for sale out there you will also find the Fifth Wheel. It is much like a traditional trailer, but built with a raised section resulting in a bi-level floor plan on the inside. Fifth wheels are another option that is very popular with full-timers. They are known for their ease and stability in towing. Fifth wheels can be towed behind a pickup truck with appropriate hitch and are very spacious on the inside.

The Travel Trailer will also be found among the vast amount of motorhomes for sale out there and was the very first popular RV. It can be pulled by a car or a truck and comes in many shapes and sizes. It is perhaps the most traditional RV possibly because it has been around so long. They are also the least expensive option generally speaking (excepting folding camping trailers) and unlike the Fifth Wheel require no special hitching requirements. It was the first high seller in the RV industry and remains very popular to this day.

The Truck Camper is designed for part time RVing. The living area fits directly into the bed of a normal pickup truck. While access to the living area is seldom possible from the cab, the camper easily slides from the bed of the truck at campsites or back at home for storage purposes. The small size of the Truck Camper is deceiving . . . you’d be surprised how much comfort can be packed in there.

Last, but not least, in the realm of motorhomes for sale is the Pop Up Trailer. These are perfect for summer vacations with the family when the weather is nice. They are the least expensive of RV’s and can be pulled by smaller cars. They fold up for traveling as their name implies and expand at campsites into really, quite remarkable, dimensions. They have many of the conveniences found in bigger units.

As you can now see, if you didn’t already know, there are basic purposes for all of the various types of recreational vehicles out there. So before you go to check out all the motorhomes for sale out there . . . think on it, so you’ll know what to ask for. If you walk into it with nothing more than, “Hello, I’d like to see all the motorhomes you’ve got for sale right now . . .” You are going to have a time picking through all the things you aren’t looking for before you chance on the one you should have asked for in the first place!
