If you’re reading this article right now, you no doubt have in
interest in the outdoors and recreational vehicles. Who doesn’t?
They’re not just a new trend. They are a new, socially desirable
lifestyle choice. And if you have an interest in recreational vehicles,
you have heard the tried and true arguments about the negative aspects
of the diesel pusher motor coaches: they’re smelly, they’re
big, they’re loud, they’re unnecessary, they’re just
all around difficult. But if you know much about recreational vehicles
and their related issues, you also know that these old arguments, while
definitely tried, are not altogether true anymore. While the traditional
view of diesel engines as smelly, loud, and a bit difficult can technically
still be applied, like everything else, the engines powering those diesel
pusher motor coaches have improved with the times.
While it is true that diesel engines may have a more difficult time starting up in cold weather than their gasoline powered equals, it is only true in situations below 30 degrees. And even the 30 degree mark is being liberal with the negativity. Most diesel pusher motor coaches are powered by diesel engines that are electronically controlled. If they are properly maintained, diesel engines should have no excessive problems starting up even while temperatures drop near the zero degree mark. So, the old myth that diesel engines are incapable of starting up in cold weather, while true at some point in time, is no longer an accurate description of the diesel pusher motor coaches of today.
The smell and the noise are definitely put offs that are hard to dispute; except for the fact that the smell and the noise have been largely decreased by the evolution of diesel engine construction and design. Today’s diesel pusher motor coaches are powered by engines that are quieter, harder working, and even more efficient than ever before. Manufacturers are aware of the old tried, but not quite true, arguments and they are quickly surpassing all obstacles. The latest offerings of diesel pusher motor coaches are alleviating the noise problem of diesel engines through design solutions such as ear-mounted engines. The noise problem is becoming less and less of a factor with your diesel powered RV’s.
The arguments of “big” and “unnecessary” are a bit different from the rest because . . . in some cases, you could have a point. Diesel engines aren’t always necessary. It’s a situational decision that each buyer has to come to. The necessity for diesel pusher motor coaches does exist for some, though. Take for instance the “big” argument. If you’ve got a 35-40 ft. motor coach . . . I hope it’s a diesel pusher motor coach. Recreational vehicles of this size need the extra power in most cases, although there are always exceptions. If you are frequently traveling hilly areas, you probably see the need for the diesel pusher motor coach. Diesel has an extra kick and gives your vehicle that extra power it needs to get up and down and up again.
Recreational vehicles are becoming more and more the norm as more and more people recognize their unique attributes and ability to provide owners with freedom and travel and leisure. Diesel pusher motor coaches are one aspect of the recreational vehicle industry that is growing in size. Diesel pusher motor coaches are being given their due. It does have a place on the road. It is not a necessity for all, but it definitely is a necessity for some. And if there is a need for a product out there; don’t have any doubts that someone is going to fulfill that need. And the RV Industry is no exception. They have the products that people are looking for with the options to make each individual happy.
